TMAFWS-X Weapon System

yeah, pretty crappy guns, i know it. but, i had this concept in my mind for a good tiime, and decided it would be a great opportunity to do it.

so, without further ado, let's start the description:

the TMAFWS-X (Tactical Modular Adaptive Future Weapon System) was designed as a proof-of-concept and prototype weapon, in order to develop a new weapon that could adapt to the ever-changing environment of the modern battlefield. the weapon could be easily converted between 4 configurations in a few seconds, thanks to the overall design of the weapon, which was designed with modularity and adaptability in mind. in addition, a 5th configuration was made based on it, albeit needing modified, special parts.

an interesting feature is the magazine, wich is angled. this was made to accomodate more rounds in a thinner, smaller package. because it is thinner, more of them can be stored in a magazine pouch, and though they are horizontally larger, when attached to the gun they make for a smaller, thinner profile. the magazine is dropped using a mechanism inspired by the Magpul PDR. the magazine release button is placed in the same place as a pistol mag release button, thus speeding up reloading.

it is equipped with flip-up iron sights and a fire selector which will be explained now:

White circle: Safety.
Red Circle: Semi-automatic fire.
two red circles: Three-round burst fire.
three red circles: Fully Automatic fire.

the 5 configurations will be explained now.

the Sub Machine Gun is the simplest, and most compact, of all variants. to use it, the operator must attach a magwell adaptor, because of the thinner magazine. it fires a proprietary 10mm round, nicknamed 10mm "long". it boasts great penetration and stopping power. the double-stack magazine holds up to 35 rounds.

the Assault Rifle (though classified by many as a Battle Rifle due to it's great power) is made by attaching a new barrel and a handguard extension, and removing the magwell adaptor (if it was being used before). it uses another proprietary round, also a 10mm, but a much bigger one, and also with a much bigger case with a lot more powder. this new round was nicknamed the 10mm "extra long". it boasts excellent penetration and brutal stopping power, in a fairly compact package. because of its fairly compact size, it is considered by many an assault rifle round. because of the special designs of these rounds and the bolt, no bolt change is needed. the assault rifle features a flashlight under the barrel, inside the handguard extension. the double-stack magazine holds up to 30 rounds.

the Light Machine Gun is made by attaching a new, even longer barrel (all of the barrels are quick-change barrels), and a new handguard extension, with a bipod instead of a flashlight, though it uses the same ammunition and magazines as the Assault Rifle, it can be equipped with a drum magazine, holding around 80 rounds.

the Sniper rifle, which can be equipped with two different barrels (medium for DMR, long for Sniper. here shown in Sniper configuration) is made by attaching a different handguard, which is modified to accept the ticker barrel, and usually fitted with a bipod, and a heavy barrel with compensator. needless to say, it is usually fitted with a scope. interesting note: the iron sights can still be used while the scope is attached. it fires the same ammunition as the assault rifle and keeps full-automatic fire capabilities.

and finally, the Directed Energy Weapon. this is a pretty unique weapon, needing special parts, thus having no parts in common with its counterparts, but being based on them. the "magazine" is a high-capacity, recharghable battery, and while it is not connected the weapon is deactiveted to ensure safety while loading it. the weapon's internal parts are highly protected by extreme insulators, to ensure safety. a digital dial near the magwell lets the operator change the power settings of the weapon. the weapon is normally fitted with a specially designed reflex sight, which co-witnesses with the iron sights. this sight was made specially to be used to target the weapon's electrolaser system.
but what is an electrolaser? when a laser reaches considerable power (around one megajoule per cubic centimetre), it begins to cause plasma breakdown in the atmosphere. this effect, called blooming, can be prejudicial to a weapon that relies solely in the laser, as it may defocus it. the Electrolaser system takes advantage of this instead, conducting a powerul electrical current through said plasma. basically, it uses lasers to form an electrically conductive laser-induced plasma channel, and then sends an electrical current trough it, delivering it to the target. the result can be devastating. we took advantage of this, developing a laser made to specifically create as much blooming as possible, and then sends a powerful electrical current through it by a small Tesla coil. alternatively, the tesla coil can by used stand-alone, and is powerful enough to destroy multiple targets at close-to-medium ranges. the Spark Gap of the tesla coil is covered for safety, though still having some holes to let air in, and is cooled by a special fan and a refrigeration system. the fire selector is different:
white dot: Safety.
Blue dot: Tesla Coil stand-alone.
Red dot: Electrolaser.
as mentioned before, a digital dial can be used to adjust the power of the weapon.

when being used in normal mode, the battery lasts surprisingly long.
