alright people, my first serious try at lineart. this time, it's no soldier, it's no knife. it's my first try at a gun.
yes, my first gun lineart.
everything was done in MS Paint. i didn't watch any tutorials or such, i just made things the way i found easier to me. using a FAL picture as a "Mold" for the outlines, i made the base model and started with the variants.
i spent considerable time and effort doing this, and i'm hoping to get some feedback, mainly to know what can i improve and even if i should continue with lineart or not. so please, if possible, leave a comment. feedback will be much appreciated.

now, let's go for the real description.
.................................................................................................
just some months after the development of the FAL MOD IV, its problem became quite more apparent. not only it needed to be made as an entirely new rifle, thus being impossible to reutilize the existing FALs in service, but it also proved to lose its reliability after some time. as this was a medium-term problem, test hadn't discovered it. as such, it was deemed necessary to immediately find a replacement for the MOD IV, which would be named the FAL MOD V.
after some development, USBN Defense Systems finally came with a prototype. after other minor changes, the FAL MOD V was accepted into service. thoguh it is not issued as a standard-issue weapon, the FA03A3 fitting that role, it is issued to some groups and is considered to be the standard battle rifle of the USBN military. it is also widely used by police forces and popular among civilians. in case of civilian export, there are semi-automatic versions available in order to comply with most nation's gun laws (in the USBN, citizens are allowed to have automatic firearms as basically everyone passes trhough military training and discipline).

the weapon comes in three different calibers: 7.62x51mm NATO, .280 British and 5.56mm NATO. the latter is the least used, while the first is the most. however, .280 British is quite popular among soldiers and civilians alike because of its good power and softer recoil. while for civilians this means more comfortable shooting, for a soldier it means better control in fully automatic fire.

while the weapon may not have a very different exterior, it does have some changes. in addition, its internal parts were refined to improve reliability and performance.

the weapon comes in many different versions, the main ones being:
FAL MOD V - the most basic variant. rubberized polymer furiniture.
FAL-C MOD V - rifle with wooden furniture. very popular among civilians.
FAL-T MOD V - version with multiple tactical rails.
FAL-M MOD V - drastically modified version. folding and adjudstable stock, fully sbifextous controls. its internals were further refined and modified in order to improve performance. it is capable of semi-automatic, automatic and 2-round burst fire.
PARA-FAL MOD V - basic version with shortened barrel and foling stock. very popular among police forces because of its compact size.
PARA-FAL-C MOD V - wooden furniture, sortened barrel and folding stock. it features a sort of wooden foregrip in the handguard.
PARA-FAL-T MOD V - the shortened PARA version, but with rails. it is very popular with paratroopers and special forces alike.
PARA-FAL-M MOD V - again,, a drastically modified w=version, this time with a shorter barrel.
FPL MOD V - a DMR variant. features an adjustable stock with an adjustable cheekrest and adjustable monopod. features an upper reciever rail for mounting of optics and features a built-in bipod. also features a flip-up rear sight. it keeps full-auto capability, though with a slightly lightened trigger pull when used in semi-auto.
FPL-C MOD V - the DMR variant with wooden furniture, very popular among hunters.
FPL-T MOD V - the DMR with multiple rails.
FPL-M MOD V - drastically modified DMR variant.
FAP MOD V - despite the funny name, it is definitely not funny. a SAW variant, designed to tear enemies apart with bipods and Quick-Change heavy barrels.
FAP-C MOD V - SAW with wooden furniture.
FAP-T MOD V - SAW with multiple rails.
FAP-M MOD V - drasticlly modified SAW. only weapon of the "M" (Modernized) variants to have a carry handle.

the rifle has proved itself as a reliable and effective rifle. it is predominantly used in semi-auto, where even the variants with shorter barrels proved to be very accurate. the soldiers who are issued these rifles normally pass through a more advanced marksmanship training, in order to take advantage of said accuracy, swiftly picking enemies, one by one, with single well-placed shots.
the USBN Armed Forces uses all variants, however the most common ones are the basic and modernized variants.

the modernized variants feature a folding, adjustable stock. it is lighter and more adaptable than its brothers, while still keeping reliability. they are favored by special operations groups and common soldiers alike.

the classic variants were primarily designed for civilians with more classic tastes. probably unmatched in looks, it is a very solid choice for hunting and self-defense. some are also issued to the police and armed forces, and it is not uncommon to see soldiers taking their own civilian rifles into combat. as in the USBN citizens may own automatic weapons, these rifles are the same grade s military weaponry and most times are customized by the soldiers who choose to carry them into battle instead of standard issue rifles.

the basic variants are very light and are also the cheapest of all, resulting in a perfect rifle for mass production. it is nonetheless a quite capable rifle, being used in large numbers by army and police forces.

the tactical variants fill the gap between the modernized and basic variants, using the same parts of the basic variant. however, the handguard is adapted to fit rails. an upper reciever rail is also attached.

well, i guess that's all.
